Guarding one's gaze (lowering the eyes) is a Quranic command (24:30). The Prophet ﷺ said: "The eyes commit zina (adultery) and their zina is the look." Use your daily prayers as anchor points — each salah is a reset. Recite Astaghfirullah when a urge hits; it redirects the mind and brings peace. Fasting (especially voluntary fasts on Mondays/Thursdays) is also prescribed as a shield.
Pornography triggers the same dopamine pathways as drugs and alcohol. Over time, the brain rewires itself — requiring more stimulation for the same effect. This is called neuroplasticity, and the good news is: it works in reverse too. Every clean day literally rewires your brain back.
Common triggers: boredom, loneliness, stress, and late nights alone with a device. The moment you notice a trigger, use the 5-second rule — count 5-4-3-2-1 and physically move. Stand up, go outside, or call someone. The urge typically passes in 10–20 minutes if you don't feed it.
